Description
Mill Valley Summit School spring kindergarten class of 1932, The teacher was Miss Margaret Olney. The names of the students are written on the reverse and shown in the second photo: "Left to right: Back row - John Bell killed in WWII France, 1944, John Billy Alvarez, Hugo Schaffer, Warburgen(?), Carol Conellly, Rhea Johangdon, Erma Berry, Grace Collins. Middle Row Randy Esplin, Kenzie Brown, George Hayle, Dick Ferber, Sam Rutherford, Jim Oliver, Carl Lude Front Row George Berry brother + sister Emma, Betty Shibata, Fred Jukich, Lisabeth Rayley, Bobby Laioni?, Midas Absent Herbert Owen" A second copy of this photo is in the Summit School Reunion Collection (MS.2019.017). An undated schematic accompanying this photo has a somewhat different identification of the students, as follows: "top row: Jon Bell, John Alvernaz, Hugo Schafer ?, Carol Connelly, Reah Jo Langon, Erma Berry, Grace Collins. middle row: Randy Esplin, Kenzie Brown, George Hoyle, Dick Ferber, Sam Rutherford, James Oliver, Carl Lude bottom row: Goerge Berry, Akoko Shibata, ?, Frederic Jikich, Elizabeth Rayley, ? Minori Maeda" It also lists the following history of some of the students: "John Bell was killed in France in 1944 John Alvernaz lives in Nevada Randy Esplin lives in Tiberon George Hoyle was killed in an airplane crash in the 1940s Dick Ferber lives in Fiddletown just southeast of Sacramento AKido (Betty) Shibata lives in Mill Valley, at the old family location at 14 Bernard Elizabeth Rayley lives in Woodacre, California Carl Lude lives in Oceanside, Calif."
