Description
This postcard depicts Southern Pacific Railroad's steam locomotive Number 4294. This class "AC-12" locomotive was produced in 1944 by Baldwin Locomotive Works, and was retired by Southern Pacific in 1956. Reverse description: "This is the Last Steam Locomotive purchased by the Southern Pacific Railroad. Retirement of steam power ended a transportation era that began in 1855. On display at the California State Railroad Museum. Old Sacramento California."
