Description
This issue is titled as Japanese Americans educated in Japan. The document describes about what happened to the children who grew up in California for a while, then went to school in Japan and finally returned back to California. It emphasizes on what effect did living and growing up in two such different places have on their manners and daily behavior, their speech, family and friendship relations and also about their sense of national loyalty. The War Relocation Authority (WRA) was created on March 18, 1942, by Executive Order of the President, No. 9102. This new civilian agency was to be responsible for "the relocation (of evacuees) in appropriate places, providing for their needs in such manner as may be appropriate, and supervising their activities." The collection consists of reports, memoranda, news clippings, news digests, statistics, and other documents issued by the War Relocation Authority leading up to, during, and following the period of Japanese American incarceration.
