Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated September 14, 1961 partially reads, "Xenopus Laevis sat submerged in water and surrounded by eggs. We blinked at each other. 'Positive,' said Mrs. Doveta Lamb, manager of California Xenopus Laevis Exchange, 12206 Ventura Blvd., Studio City. 'Positive?' I asked. 'Yes. The eggs mean the pregnancy test is positive.' I nodded and looked inquiringly at Xenopus Laevis, the frog. It blinked. 'This is a special species of frog imported from South Africa,' Mrs. Lamb explained. 'Its use determines with 99.4 per cent accuracy whether a woman is pregnant or not.'" Note: Pictured is Mrs. Lamb, holding an adult female Xenopus Laevis frog.
