Description
Two adults and two children stand in City Hall Park with San Jose City Hall in the background. The park is planted with palms and flowers in bloom. To the left of the two children is a fountain topped by a statue of San Francisco dentist Dr. Henry Cogswell. Dr. Cogswell donated many of these fountains to cities in the hope that thirsty people would drink water instead of alcohol. The city hall in the background was completed in 1889. It was modeled after a Victorian-era Bavarian town Hall. It was demolished in 1958.
