Photograph caption dated July 15, 1960 reads, "Robert Nathan, delegate from the District of Columbia, leaps up to protect delegation standard from being carried in a Lyndon Johnson demonstration. District of Columbia was one of several delegations that expressed dissatisfaction with choice of the Texan as the vice president nominee."
