Photograph of Hugh Mumby, San Jose State College wrestling coach.
A three-sport letterman (gymnastics, track, wrestling). Hugh Mumby graduated from California (after a four-year wrestling career at Cal as Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Wrestling champ in 1946 at 175-pounds and in 1948 at 191-pounds). He guided the Spartans into a continually prominent West Coast position for nearly twenty years. He entered SJSC in the NCAAs several times. Hugh Mumby was known as one of the finest mat technicians in collegiate history. He coached from 1952 through 1969 and in 1971. http://www.sjsuwrestling.com/hmumby.htm
