Caption dated December 12, 1964 reads, "Sylmar High School art student Deborah Blythe decorates store window in Sylmar Square as Bill Ballinger, right, and Howard Sylva of Sylmar Square Merchants Association watch. Ballinger originated the program two years ago. Merchants' contributions buy materials, pay for art scholarships to UCLA and for students' work."
