Description
The furnaceyard at Hacienda de Beneficio, the mine's main reduction works. Ore was transferred from the mines to the reduction works via trams that ran down the steep tramways. The ore was roasted over direct heat to force the mercury to escape as gas. The reduction works eventually operated around the clock, requiring an immense supply of firewood.
