Los Angeles County was officially declared a disaster area on July 21, 1960 as up to six fires raged out of control, including fires in Sunland-Tujunga, San Dimas Canyon, San Gabriel Canyon, Big Pines, and Magic Mountain.
Photograph caption dated July 21, 1960 reads, "Home in Tujunga is destroyed in ball of fire during foothill area fire. Four other expensive homes were destroyed and numerous others damaged in same area."; See images #00114972 through #00114975 for all photos in this series.
