Description
A 1927 parade along K Street between Seventh and Tenth features a marching band, most of them in uniform, followed by lines of men in and out of uniform marching in rows. A small group of uniformed scouts and nurses dressed in white are at the end of the line in this photograph. A large crowd of onlookers lines the street and business signs clearly identify the Clunie Hotel (805 K Street), Florsheim's Shoes (809 K Street), Hale Brothers Department Store (825 K Street), Purnell Stationery Company (915 K Street), Sequoia Theatre (909 K Street), and Chinn-Beretta Optical Company (901 K Street). Rows of automobiles are parked along the street. some of which have parade watchers looking out. The Sequoia Theatre played only films released by Paramount Studios; ""Drums of the Desert"" opened September of 1927 in New York and would have made its way to Sacramento screens a month or two later.
