Description
1989-1167. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. B, leaf 22. In center foreground are four trolley tracks which lead into photograph bordered by buildings on each side of the street; on right side cars are parked on the street facing into the distance, while on left side the parked cars face outward; on right side the first business is the "Cline Piano Co." and on the left side is a "Liquor & Tobacco" shop on the corner; a car on the left side drives toward the front of the photo and on the left a man is crossing the street; another man on the right side is standing on the corner; people are seen walking down the street on the left. Also have negative: no. #27,522 (4 x 5 in.) Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. Each business on both sides of the street are identified as the North-side or left side of street or as the South-side or right side of street on page 21 of the album.
