A street sign on the corner of Outpost and Hillside (left) indicates that the Mullholland Hwy is one mile away to the left and that Hollywood and Los Angeles are located to the right, 9 miles away.; This Hollywood residential neighborhood is one of the first 1920s Hollywood luxury residential neighborhoods, which has not changed much since the time it was developed. The name "Outpost" was coined by General Harrison Gray Otis, who had owned an early adobe (see images 00072981, 00072982 and 00070902) in the neighborhood.
