Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Original photograph has a vertical crease in the middle of the picture. Photograph caption dated June 6, 1962 reads "The midnight oil burned. The ballot was long and the counting tedious. Mrs. Erwin Giese, Mrs. Donald Hosford and Mrs. Robert Swanson, from left, counted votes at precinct station at 532 Groton Dr., Burbank. Sometimes the figures danced on the yellow sheets. Eyes blurred. The counting went on into the night. Coffee boiled. Tallying went on. Officials predict final tabulations won't be complete until late today."
