Photograph of the unsuccessful Coffer Dam under construction at the Lower Intake of the Colorado River, ca.1903. Wood forms, scaffolds, wood frames, and ladders make the work area quite busy. Two smokestacks puff exhaust in the background. A few men are working on the construction. Several buildings are visible in the distance at left. The Dam went out of operation after $100,000 had been expended on its construction.
