Description
The Plaza Pasadena opened in September 1980. The new mall was anchored by J.C. Penney, May Company, and the Broadway department stores had space for 120 smaller stores and restaurants. When it opened on September 3, ninty-six percent of the retail space was leased, and both the city and mall had high hopes for the future. In the late 1990s, the mall was gutted and transformed into Paseo Colorado. Verso reads: "For Immediate Release: September 2, 1980; Contact: Peggy Hummes, (213)772-4200; Of the 120 small shops and restaurants in The Plaza Pasadena, 85 will be opening with the mall on September 3. In total, the mall is 96 percent leased and expects to achieve over $100-million in sales its first year in operation. ### 090280" The reverse has a news release label: "News from Ernest W. Hahn, Inc., 200 Continental Boulevard, El Segundo, California 90245, Telephone: (213) 772-4200." The reverse is also stamped by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce.
