William Howard III, husband of actress Dorothy Lamour, at a preliminary hearing at a Costa Mesa courtroom against Adolph Spreckels II, heir to the Spreckels sugar fortune. Spreckels was accused of beating his ex-wife, Kay Williams with her own shoe. Lamour, a close friend of Williams, had been the one to take Williams to the hospital. Spreckels was later found guilty of the beating and served a term of 30 days. Photograph dated September 10, 1953.
