Description
Unnamed broadcaster’s commentary on the issue of housing in the Bay Area, particularly that of a house that is to be torn down, despite being the home of around 20 people. Berkeley City Council seems to be in favor of the landlord and developers to make housing less accessible. Second segment is a recording of City Council meeting on the status of the house at 1812 Fairview. The council votes in favor of the motion to have the housing hearing out of order. The residents of the house claim they have been trying to repair the house and bring it up to code, but the city council has refused to grant them permits to do needed repaired, resulting in their impending eviction. Digitization made possible through a Recordings at Risk grant from the Council of Libraries and Information Resources.
