Description: Caption: "U.S. Capitol Bldg. Washington D.C," c. 1925. View of the domed U.S. Capitol at night, with external lamps lit. The Capitol houses both the Senate and House of Representatives. Constructed between 1793 and 1800 and designed by architect William Thornton, the building has undergone several expansions, including the addition of the wedding-cake-style dome in the 1850s.
