Manuscript letter from La Pérouse to Destouches, written on board the French frigate Astree off the coast of Nantucket, Dated 17 April 1781 pn p. 3, below La Pérouse's signature. La Pérouse writes that he is back and 3 leagues off Boston, and has had good winds. La Pérouse has been obliged to lend the ship Friendship 2 of his crew members and 20 gallons of rum. The fourth page bears an address to Destouches in Newport, and bears a red wax seal.
