The location for the Optimist Home for Boys was once the Strickland Home for Boys, an orphanage in Highland Park. Photograph caption dated March 25, 1955 reads, "Warren Lee Braly, superintendent of Optimist Home for Boys at 6957 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, is pictured above with group of boys. Located on five acres, $500,000 establishment is supported by District 14 of Optimist Club, of which North Hollywood club is member. Governor's Conference named Home 'finest one in state for rehabilitation of wayward youth."
