Mrs. Charles E. Haas is pictured as Maria Pico, wife of the last governor under Spanish rule, Pio Pico. Her black taffeta gown is an actual heirloom of those days. She appeared in the pageant of early California women given May 30, 1932, by the California Women of the Golden West.
