Landscaped grounds and a path leading up to a two-story house of Colonel E. J. C. Kewen on the El Molino estate in San Gabriel (now San Marino, California). Trees obscure most of structure, except for the entrance, and a second story balcony on which several men stand. To the right, is a man stands in the path next to a horse-drawn carriage. Title transcribed from enclosure. Date devised by cataloger; Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880. Property was formerly owned by the San Gabriel Mission, and known as "El Molino Viejo," or "The Old Mill." Image was untitled and unnumbered by Watkins. See photPF 497 for variant view.
