Description: This picture appears in the Salinas Californian August 4, 1962. The caption is: Big Oaks--In this instance it was a large pine that grew from the tiny one in the Buddhist temple yard. This photograph of the temple and YMBA was taken before California Street was paved...and before the Bonsho pagoda was built. The pine tree in front now towers.
