Description
A natural shell aerophone, decorated with an outline of an eagle head on the exterior surface; has a broken edge. For millennia, various sizes of conch shell trumpets (known as quiquiztli or atecocolli in Náhuatl ) were used for calls to prayer, acknowledging the wind or four directions, for timekeeping, or during combat. They are now considered part of a contemporary Aztec dancer's regalia.
