Description
Photograph of panoramic view of downtown Los Angeles, showing City Hall in background, ca.1928-1930. In the foreground at center, a group of large rectangular buildings and their flat rooftops can be seen. To the far right, a wide street can be seen below lined with several automobiles. Large buildings stand adjacent to the road and extend into the extreme background. In the background at left, the large structure of City Hall rises high above all other surrounding buildings. Legible signs in the foreground include: "Hollenbeck Hotel" and "Hear every word / 15 cents / Lyceum Theatre / Our sound is incomparable". The photograph appears to be taken from the Washington Building (built 1912-13), SW corner of Spring Street and Third Street.
