Another view of Great Deliverance Church of God in Christ, located at 740 E. Hill St. in the city of Long Beach. It shows an unassuming single-story corner church, painted white with a red roof and red trim; a simple white cross rests at the top. The church has a small sign directly above the entrance listing the order of service with days and times, as well as the name of "Elder H.A. Bryant, Pastor". Residential homes can be seen across the street. The late Elder Wesley & Pauline Dickson established Bright Star C.O.G.I.C. (Church of God in Christ) more than 50 years ago. The Church of God in Christ, organized in November of 1907, is commonly known as being Holiness or Pentecostal in nature. It has grown from ten congregations in 1907, to the largest Pentecostal group in America to date, with membership escalating from three million in 1973, to an estimated 5.2 million members in 64 countries by 1997. Photo dated: April 2004.
