Description
Photograph of a tourist card from the Angel's Flight inclined railway at Hill Street and Third Street, [s.d.]. The left side of the card is composed of a half-tone drawing photograph of the Hill Street Tunnel and the railway making its way up the hill to the left. There are two cars on the narrow tracks, and many people are waiting near an archway at the bottom for the return of the vehicles. There are several tall buildings around, including the tall Angel's View tower. At the bottom of the image are the words "Compliments of J. W. Eddy". At right is a section of text that describes the highlights of the railway: "Have you ever visited the 'Angel's Flight?' If not, why not? It is the most unique, interesting and useful inclined railway in the world. It is in the heart of the city -- Hill and Third Streets. Los Angeles, Ca. The ride is inspiring and perfectly safe. The view from the Tower -- 'Angel's View' -- is grand, overlooking city and mountains. The camera obscura puts a beautiful living picture of Third Street and vicinity on canvas before you. Fare 5 cents, three for 10 cents, ten for 25 cents, 100 for $1.00. Angel's View with Camera Obscura, 5 cents three for 10 cents.
