Probable date based on item title. Plate published in the Journal of the Franklin Institute, Third Series, Vol. V., 1843, and accompanied a "Letter from Charles Moering, Esq., Engineer, to Messrs. Eastwick & Harrison, Locomotive Builders ..." dated September 1, 1842, pages 15-19. "Journal Franklin Institute"--text, upper left margin. "Plate I. Vol. V. 3rd Series."--text, upper right margin.
