Water renovation plant which will furnish $7 per acre foot water for irrigation, experimentation, industrial use and replenishment of depleted underground storage areas in contrast with $70 desalted water and $31 (irrigation) and $41 (drinking) fresh water will be dedicated by Senator Thomas H. Kuchel at Pomona, Calif. City of Pomona will buy water produced by Sanitation District 21 of Los Angeles County and deliver it under contract to public and private agencies and industry, in the first transaction of its kind in the U.S. First customer will be Cal Poly/Pomona. Top view: 1,000,000-gallon capacity chlorine contact pond in front of final sedimentation and aeration tanks of new $800,000 Pomona Sanitation District 21 water renovation facility with lower structure and laboratory locations as viewed from Pomona landmark, Elephant Hill. Bottom view: Primary sedimentation tanks, Chlorination Building and Joint Federal Water Pollution Control Administration-Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County tertiary treatment research facilities. City of Pomona, Sanitation Districts and Federal Government work in close cooperation on water purification research.
