Description
This 1920 photo is a front view of Howe's Academy at the corner of Ninth and I streets. Edward Howe Jr. was principal. The academy provided training in elementary grades and high school education. Classes taught included elocution, French, German, bookkeeping, shorthand, and typing. The school, which was located at 1019 J St. in 1900 and 1028 J St. in 1906, moved to 831 I St. after 1917 as Howe's Normal Academy and Business College.
