Photograph caption dated January 17, 1956 reads, "Gen. I. A. Aler, president of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, points to maps of present and proposed routes as he discusses plans for Los Angeles to Amsterdam flights. First direct air routes between California and Holland will open vast new trade vistas for West Coast, he said."
