Mary Pickford was a Canadian-born silent film actress, famously known as "America's sweetheart," co-founder of American Artists film studio, and one of the original founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Buddy Rogers was an actor and jazz musician. Photograph caption dated June 12, 1958 reads "Left to right: May Mann, writer; Dr. George W. Campbell, exalted ruler of Elks; Ernst Katz, founder of California all-youth symphonic band; actress Mary Pickford and husband, Buddy Rogers." The group is shown in front of a sheet cake with a single candle.
