Description
News reel from KNTV San Jose broadcast on October 17, 1965; may be combination of the early and late news, includes national, local, sports and weather. Part 1: Salinas Assistant Chief of Police Herb Roberson expects over 10,000 arrests for drunkenness by end of the year, possibly due to increase in migrant farm workers drawn from places like Skid Row; semi-pro football club San Jose Apaches play at San Jose's Municipal Stadium (silent). Part 2: 700 people march from Golden Gate Park to San Francisco's Civic Center to protest Vietnam war, over 1000 people attend the rally at the Civic Center where hecklers engage with the demonstrators, and San Jose attorney John Thorne addresses the rally questioning U.S. involvement in the war; Barry Goldwater gives keynote speech at California State Junior Chamber of Commerce Convention at the Hotel Cabana in Palo Alto.
