The Mark Kaplan Realty Co. will utilize the office as a headquarters for their three locations and will combine a large commercial and income department with the general operations.
Photograph caption dated March 29, 1963 reads, "Ground is broken for H.C. Smith Center, near the intersection of Topanga Canyon Blvd. and Vanowen St., Canoga Park, which will house new Mark Kaplan Realty Co. office. Taking part in ceremonies are Mark Kaplan, realtor; Howard C. Smith, general building contractor; Frank N. Gould, manager Canoga Park main office, United California Bank; Mrs. Howard C. Smith, and H.J. Garetson, mortgage company executive."
