Photograph caption dated December 22, 1955 reads, "All-weather Northrop interceptors on the line at Palmdale plant are readied for takeoff to far Arctic posts pending final delivery to the U.S. Air Force. The Scorpion F-89, a sleek silver nosed jet, is delivered combat-ready to squadrons based above the 60th parallel. It packs a deadly parcel of 104 electronically controlled high-explosive rockets."
