Description
Founded in 1850 in San Francisco by the Verdier brothers, immigrants from France, the Los Angeles branch was opened in 1893; the store later became B. H. Dyas Co.
Exterior of the Los Angeles branch of the San Francisco dry goods store, Ville de Paris, after it was remodeled in 1901; location is 3rd and Broadway. The employees (men, women and young boys) pose in front of the store. Two electric lights hang down in front of the store windows.
