Description
Back of the photograph reads, "Detail of self-watering ceramic plant-saver, originated and made by Richard Petterson, Scripps College, of porous terra cotta in colors suited to the planting. A single filling of these pipes, which are sealed at the lower end and planted to the bottom of the container, will provide water for two weeks and, just as importantly, assure a slow, safe supply of water, rather than dangerous, sudden over-watering. Arrangement of philodendrom and defenbachia is by Ray Mawson, Beuna Park Greenhouses."
