V1p265a In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 265 top. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written under photo: "These are soldierettes 'In Training' at Presidio. It is not yet known if they reached the trenches." Shows a view from a roof of a formation of female military personnel. Male military personnel and a number of adult civilians and children are watching. A man to the left has a camera set up on a tripod. Soldierettes were at the Presidio attending National Service School, a program set up by the Women's Section of the Navy League to increase the preparedness of women for war. The course included first aid, elementary hygiene, home care of the sick, marching and drilling. Students were being trained to support the Armed Forces.
