Description
Also known as a chimalli (Náhuatl), this ornamental hide shield is decorated (front) with painted images of traditional figures, leatherwork and geometric beaded patterns, and is fringed with yellow and red feathers. Braided leather straps attached to the back are used to hold the shield.
