Description
"Schwester Schärf mit ihrer Sonntagsschule. Dr. med. O. Fischer" ("Sister Schärf with her Sunday school. Dr. O. Fischer"). In the background on the left a two-storied and tile-roofed house. In the foreground a group of 27 African children under a large tree: three girls are standing, the others are seated. On the left Else Schärf, standing beside the singing group and playing a guitar.
Else Schärf (born 1892, year of death unknown) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. She was a deaconess and received training not only as a nurse but also in the care of mothers and lepers. She served from 1928 for many years at the leprosy hospital in Isoko.
