Description
Photograph caption dated December 29, 1960 reads "Two Granada Hills boys have turned the strong winds that have been sweeping through the Valley to their advantage. Using a government surplus cargo parachute, Dennis Runyan, 12, 10111 Odessa St., and Ken Beam, 14, 10135 Odessa, have rigged a street-cruising, wind-powered wagon. Here's how they did it: The chute is attached to the front of the wagon, one rider holds the top and the other steers, and on each side boys on outrigger roller skate boards hold the ends of th chute, then, the wind catches it and drives them down the street at five to ten miles per hour. Busy streets are not recommended as the place to try out the awkward sail wagon."; See images #00138531 through #00138533 for all photos in this series.
