Drawing by Edward Vischer of rodeo preparations at a cattle ranch, ca.1870-1874. Caption: "Scene on an old Californian cattle ranch, in early Spring, on the eve of a general rodeo (landscape San Lorenzo, Mont[erey] Co[unty]".... Two men on horseback rope a steer while another rider looks on. A small herd of horses run at left. A post and rail fence surrounds a large flat area in front of a ranch house.
