Description
Photograph of a "general view of a complete section of Boulder Dam transmission line in Silver Lake District, near Silver Lake Camp, showing copper cable in place", ca.1930. A dirt road extends straight down the center with weeds and bushes spotting the dusty fields on either side. One skeletal tower of the transmission line stands at the top of a dirt hill in the foreground on the left while the rest extend down either side of the road at ground level until they reach the dark hills in the distance.
Photoprint reads: "General view of a complete section of Boulder Dam transmission line in Silver Lake District, near Silver Lake Camp, showing copper cable in place. A total of 6,727 tons of 1¼ inch hollow copper cable, measuring 1,620 miles in all, will be used for 270 miles of Boulder Dam transmission line from Boulder Dam to Los Angeles. Cable stringing operations are in progress in four locations along the line." -- unknown author, [s.d.].
