Funeral of rancher Gilman Cotton Nelson in mid-Jan, 1915. Carriages are seen in front of his Chico home at the corner of Easth 12th Street and Nelson St. His casket had laid in the front parlor. In the second carriage were his son Gilman Pearl Nelson (son of Anna Minerva Pearl Nelson, deceased), his son's wife Anna Barbara and his grandson, Warren Nelson now of Fort Jones (age 76 in 1979). Also in the carriage was G.C. Nelson's wife Mary Ogden Nelson. Nelson farmed 6500 acres at Nelson (named for A.D. Nelson). G.C. Nelson emigrated here from Vermont via San Joaquin County in 1871.
