Photograph caption dated November 8, 1963 reads, "Water for 60,000 with valve-flip - Don Ross, left, Las Virgenes Municipal Water District superintendent, and Myron McBride, Las Virgenes general manager, turn the valve which began pumping water from Eagle rock 40 miles to 1,000 families in Calabasas, Agoura, Hidden Hills, Chatsworth Lake Manor, Malibu Lake and Corral Canyon. The 117-square-mile Las Virgenes water district eventually will supply water to some 60,000 families. The pipeline took 18 months to lay, and water was delivered Tuesday through the pumping station on Valley Circle Dr., south of Vanowen St., Canoga Park."
