View of an oil derrick that has been anchored to the ground, it is located at 1006 Pier "F" Avenue in Long Beach. It shows a man crouching down on the platform that is attached to the side of the derrick, and its platform, machinery and equipment can be seen around its base. A "grasshopper", or electrically operated oil field pump is seen next to the base on the left, and a large truck is parked next to it on the right. The door on the truck reads: "General Petroleum Corporation". More oil derricks may be seen spread over a vast area of land in the background.
