Shows diverting dam and ditch below, shovel and cars in quarry #1 and hospital in distance -- panel 2. Substation and compressor house on hill above -- panel 3. Shows old log dam below, toe wall of new dam projecting above water in river bed. Quarry of subcontractor Acrey in distance above and of subcontractor Bradovich near view of below overhead carrier in foreground -- panel 4. Shows quarry of subcontractor Melanovich on left and of subcontractor Haggant on right. Haggant's quarry has a small derrick -- panel 5. Large dirt dump from foundation excavations shows below the dam in distance -- panel 6. Shows subcontractor Arndt's quarry on right bank. 2010-0274. Album documents the building of Strawberry Dam between 1912 and 1916; dam was built at the site of an older Strawberry Dam on lower Strawberry Creek for Sierra and San Francisco Power Company by Willetts & Burr; also shows work on Philadelphia Ditch, a ditch and flume running from a point on South Fork of Stanislaus River 1 1/2 miles sw of town of Strawberry to Philadelphia Diggins (ditch bought by Power Company from Stockton Gravel Mining Co. in 1912); dam and ditch intended to supply water locally and electricity and power to markets as far as San Francisco.
