In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], vol. A, leaf 10.
Wood-clad 2 storey building with a mansard roof with widow's walk on top; a short L-shaped building with a tower at the corner which contains the entrance up a set of stairs through an arched opening with a small pediment above it; first floor windows are tall and thin and each is crowned by a 3-dimensional pediment; on left side facade is a row of 6 tall arched windows in a row with 3-D pediments on 1st & above on 2nd is a row of 6 tall rectangular windows; on right side is another annex that is also wood-clad.

Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
"located at the Northeast corner of 9th & M street, erected or completed September 2nd, 1876, the school was opened January 1, 1877...The building was 60 x 70 feet in size, consisting of two stories and basement, and cost $10,687.00...This building burned down in the year 1909..."
