Description
Photograph of walnut trees at the residence of Luther Burbank in Santa Rosa, ca.1901. Spanning from right towards the left background is a row of six evenly-spaced large walnut trees. A dirt road is visible from the foreground to the background to the left of the trees, while a picket fence runs behind the line of trees. Buildings are visible beyond the fence and in the left background, while several utility poles are spaced between the trees. "Photo taken at corner of Santa Rosa Ave and Charles St. looking north along Santa Rosa Ave. Walnuts are sometimes identified as Burbank Paradox walnuts. Burbank's greenhouse, office, and barn are visible in the background (at 204 Santa Rosa Ave.). Iron Bridge is visible crossing Santa Rosa Creek and leading to downtown Santa Rosa" -- Rebecca Baker, Burbank Home & Gardens historian.
